"The Storm of Lexington", aka Stormy, came to us all the way from Tennessee! He is a Gypsy Vanner. Stormy was born in 2010 at the Lexlin Gypsy Ranch. Equest actually won Stormy in a nation-wide voting contest! Stormy is the first horse dedicated to the Equest Hooves for Heroes program. This program's mission is to "strengthen our community by leveraging the power of horses to help warriors achieve optimum wellness and successfully transition to civilian life."
The Gypsy horses are a very interesting breed. They are very family oriented horses that are bred for their calm caring nature and good work ethic. Stormy has a perfect build for a therapy horse. While he is short in stature, he is very strong and sturdy. Stormy will be able to carry children and adults with the bonus of not being so large that he feels intimidating to those not accustomed to horses.
Stormy has been a media darling since his arrival at Equest, appearing in several print stories as well as on television programs. To see coverage of Stormy, visit the KTXD website at: www.ktxdtv.com.
