Title:                       Development and Communication Associate

Position:                 Full Time, Salaried, Exempt

Reports to:            Director of Development

Supervises:            Volunteers and interns (as assigned)

Core Work Week: M-F 40-45 hours with some Evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

Job Overview: 

The Development and Communication Associate (DCA) is instrumental in providing strategic and logistical support to Equest’s fundraising efforts and external communications.  The DCA is the go-to person for all social media involvement and website communication efforts.   The DCA also ensures the processing of gifts and acknowledgment letters, crafts and manages communication projects and reports, creates and replenishes fundraising materials and is responsible for disseminating updates about the activities of Equest.  The DCA also supports other development department related administrative tasks.

The DCA will have significant opportunities to help develop and grow Equest’s fundraising and communications strategies.

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be very organized, solution oriented, self-motivated and possess the ability to work both independently and with a diverse and productive team while displaying a positive attitude always.  Working with deadlines and under pressure, as well as adhering to confidentiality are vital.  The ability to multitask in a time-sensitive environment, flexibility and the ability to prioritize tasks as necessary is essential to overall success. Attention to detail is very important and a passion for excellence are necessary to fit into the Equest culture. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Must be proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office,

  • Donor management software experience, familiarity with Salesforce a plus.

  • 1 year of experience in a professional, preferably non-profit, environment.

  • Previous administrative assistant or customer service experience preferred

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write for a variety of media (e.g., print, web, news, social)

  • Experience in graphic design and/or print media, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

  • Experience using social media tools and website content management systems successfully on behalf of a professional organization.

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to help drive projects to completion.

  • Basic image editing skills, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or similar tools a plus

  • A collaborative and collegial work style is necessary.

  • Be organized, prepared, detail-oriented and possess a great deal of integrity.

  • Able to juggle multiple projects at one time.

  • Must have the ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate Equest’s mission.
