Contract Mental Health Professional

Child/Adolescent/Family Therapist

Part-time (1-2 days/week)

 

Position Summary:

Equest, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to change lives through the human-horse connection, is looking for a fully licensed mental health professional (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) to be a contract counselor at Equest in Dallas, TX. 

 

The Mental Health Professional must have at least 5 years of training and clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families, as this will be the primary clientele. Strong candidates will have interest/training/experience in trauma recovery, family systems, play therapy, military issues, and animal-assisted therapy (equine-assisted preferred).  The Mental Health Professional must be available 1 to 2 days per week with availability at least one evening or Saturday.

Equest is located in Southern Dallas, on the edge of the beautiful Trinity Forest.

Requirements

  • Applicants must pass a criminal background check and drug screen

  • Resume and references required for consideration (submit all in one document)

 

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to clients as scheduled.

  • Complete clinical documentation within 1 week of date of service.

  • Actively participate as a positive member of the Equest environment.

  • Maintain good standing with the appropriate board.

  • Maintain professional liability insurance.

  • Stay current with updated research and best practices.

  • Be aware of community referral sources and refer when necessary.

  • Secure client information per HIPAA standards.

  • Maintain case files within electronic health record (EHR) that are up to date.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of family systems and their impact on mental health within the family.

  • Skill in applying animal assisted therapy with individuals/families.

  • Skill in working with a variety of cultures.

  • Skill in working independently and implementing time management strategies.

  • Ability to provide necessary self-care.

  • Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions with other clinical staff and horse specialists.

  • Awareness of personal strengths and appropriate timing for referrals.

 

Education and Experience:

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in a mental health-related field.

  • Must be licensed in the state of Texas.
