Media alert: 150 family members from Snowball Express to experience the human-horse connection at Equest

Snowball Express, American Airlines, and Equest to bring holiday cheer to children and spouses of fallen military.

The power of the human-horse connection will be strong this Monday as Equest provides equine-facilitated activities to 150 children and spouses of fallen military. The day at Equest at Texas Horse Park is part of the 12th Annual Snowball Express, in which American Airlines flies more than 1,600 family members of fallen military from 87 cities worldwide for five days of fun and fellowship.

Monday, December 11

9:30 AM – 10:00 AM - Welcoming of the families in the Equest covered arena
10:30 AM – 2:30 PM - Activities include trail rides, a petting zoo, painting ponies, nature hikes through the Great Trinity Forest, demonstrations from the Dallas Police Department’s Mounted and K9 units, face-painting, and educational presentations from the “Creature Teacher”!

Founded in 1981, Equest provides equine facilitated activities, therapies and counseling to children and adults with physical, cognitive, sensory, coping and learning disabilities and veterans with adjustment challenges. The services provided include physical and occupational therapy, equine facilitated counseling and learning, therapeutic carriage driving, therapeutic horsemanship and competition. With the help of 36 therapy horses, 10 instructors, four therapists, two counselors, and 400 volunteers, lives are changed on a daily basis for more than 3,000 clients served annually.
